And Phillips says the striker was receptive to his advice, telling talkSPORT: Everyone has their own perception of him.“I make my own mind up when I actually meet someone or work with them.It was a clean slate when we went in there and I kind of made Saido a bit of a project. He absorbed everything we spoke to him about.“He enjoyed sitting down and doing 1v1 video and he actually said he has never had that.”He continued: Hes been around the professional game for a while now and been at clubs with big managers and theres been no one who has taken the time to sit down and coach him.In terms of finishing on the training ground, hes one of the best Ive seen.He has got ability and he is a great finisher.“What he needs to do now is transfer it regularly into match situations.Phillips believes Berahino has the ability to be a very accomplished striker, should he sort things out off the pitch. He revealed: At times he lets himself down with his punctuality but I think thats just the way he is.But we managed to get the best out of him that any manager in the last five years has done. I dont think he means to do it.“We would be away in a hotel and hed be late to dinner and he wouldnt even try to sneak in or make an excuse. It was like Saido youre late.Yeah I just overslept. You are going to be fined.Yeah okay no problem.
